Based on this quote I came to the conclusion that the best thing a person can try to do in their valued time, is to do good. William Penn's quote is the golden standards that we as individuals should always strive for. The importance of doing good without a doubt is the best thing we can do because not only do you feel and make right choices, but it effects others as well. I like to of doing good as a making a ripple in a pond, the goodness has everlasting effects that will always be rewarded. Today in class some students forgot the importance of doing good since they did not want to participate in our class games.

When watching Dr. Randy's segment on the Oprah Winfrey show it made me realize the importance of living a life not wasted, and choosing the right steps in life. It is something that can be used for everyone no matter if they are dying the next day, or living a long life.

Duties & Responsibilities: Usually sees patients in a clinic or office setting to evaluate symptoms that affect their ears, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck. Otolaryngologists work closely with other physicians, sometimes referring patients to other specialists. Frequently they work with other medical specialties to solve single or multiple medical issues or to perform extensive surgery.

Educational Requirements: Complete 5 years of training in Surgical Residency,  a bachelor in science,

Reflection: 
I think I would not pursue this career field for the reason of it being not something I am interested in. I like the medical field, but right now my majors consist of business and psychology.

Any time you are in a crossroad remember that if it is the wrong way  do not go in that direction, but if you can always choose the right then always achieve to strive for the right things in life. Same could be said for the other part of the quote, if you not its know true then do not say it. For example when you have people say certain things about our country, they are ignorant onto what they really have. In fact when a person disrespects our country's flag and national anthem it is disrespecting to the people who died and fought for our freedom. It is unfair for the millions of veterans who died defending that flag and our values as a country.  People forget about the countries that there parents or grandparents left from, forgetting that they left to the United States for the values and opportunity that our country offers unlike there original countries that were not safe.

Reflection: This is a career that I would keep in consideration. The projected growth seems high, so there must be a demand.

The quote  tells the truth, without honesty there would be nothing completed in a person' life. How can someones words can be worth something more than anything else. The trust and commitments would longer be to gain again after breaking the policy of honesty. A policy such a honesty should not be taken for granted. An experience of honesty that I have done  is that I always stick to the truth besides my assignments in class, as well as with my sisters who asked me what are the best things about high school. I was honest and told them that as much fun I had in meeting friends, the academics were excellent.

Thanksgiving Summary

Thanksgiving Break

For what I did for my Thanksgiving vacation was that I went to Hesperia to spend time with my
cousins who I had not seen for two months. I went to Mt. Baldy to see the snow, it was beautiful, and very convenient since it was nearby. In addition I got to see my whole family gathered up for Thanksgiving. Movies that I watched is Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving, it is one of our family's favorites since everyone seems to like it. I did not watch any sports, but I read an article on the recent cheating scandals about Houston Astros, it upsets me how they chose to be CTW  and hurt the integrity of the game of baseball. A CTR experience I had was that I helped my mom with preparing the sides for the Thanksgiving feast. Books that I read was Catcher in the Rye, I understood it was removed from school libraries in the 50's or 60's, it reminded of the the short story I read for AP Literature and how similar the themes innocence and isolation both novels had. Homework assignments that I completed was for AP Stats, AP Lit,  Honors Econ, and Exploring Computer Science.  My APs were the ones that had the most workload, and Econ was not too difficult since it was a worksheet and our college plan.

Upon reading this quote I came to the understanding of the importance of having integrity. That is for the reason that choosing the right can often be difficult for some people but knowing that  they chose to do the right can be one of the everlasting effects of making the proper decision. Like the example that was shown to us about the medical student who only received his diploma from all the cheating he did in his college exams. He did not have the courage and broke all the 3 magic keys to living your life with integrity

Thanksgiving 

Upon researching the history of Thanksgiving what I found the most interesting is that the first thanksgiving's center dish was not the turkey we know now, but consisted of deer hunted by the Native Americans and seafood. It was until only after 1621 that the was introduced and it became a tradition after President Abraham Lincoln made it a national holiday. What I am thankful for this thanksgiving is my family, the love and support from my family always motivates me to do my best in my academics.

For example, the situation of four football players at a closed convience store which was left open due to a issue with the lock. Instead of stealing and ransacking the store, they left money for the items that they bought.

   In other words, no matter how many times someone or yourself try to convince you that the bad deeds you are commiting are right, it will be always wrong. For example, if a person were to make the impression of not following the signs in a park or public road sign, then there would be wrong doings. Nothing can justify in doing the wrong things, if you know you are not choosing the right. There is no circumstances in which choosing the wrong can be thought as the best route for a person's life, it will only bring mournful moments in life that often leave a person regretting in not choosing the right, thus welcome a sad life of depression and regret.

The quote in other words means that it is better to hold on stuff that you know would give you short times of joy, compared to something such as a goal, in which you should remind yourself everyday by seeing it. Peter Vidmar proved his strategy of thinking with him winning gold medals in the Olympics.

A good name outlast the tangile things that we may get in our lifetime, sure you may trophy or two but a good name never gets forgotten. Coach K. has a good name because his lifetime of being CTR person. I would like to have a good name as well. Ways I am going to strive for a good name is doing what I am to do because it is most likely for my best interest, following the level D: Democracy level. For a good name character matters most, so to get a good name I must strive for being good.

In Lavell Edward's story about the distributer telling the truth about the berries when Edward's father's name is mentioned. The significnce of just his father's name being mentioned changed the direction of the distributer's thoughts and actions. If it were the opposite and that indeed he did forgot the berries and his father's name was not as good then it would have been more difficult to get him to tell the truth. Money is good for what it is, but a person must not put that first in their life, the importance of a good name heavily outweighs the riches and luxuries provided by money.

A CTR champion may not win the world series, or an olympic gold, but do they have a champion character. For example a person who commits to doing good deeds everyday, versus a person who may have won a gold medal in the olympics but did CTW, and took sports-enhancing drugs. When we recieve a reward for our efforts we feel good, but if we chose to do wrong then we never know true happiness. Great humans do great things, and to do great things a person must always choose the right .

Mr. Kimball's meaning of "We learn to do by doing" is that we can only learn to accomplish something is by doing the action itself. Nobody gets better by not doing anything, it requires you to do the activity. For example, when someone wants to improve their writing skills it requires them to do a plethora of essays. Another saying that reminds me of this is "Rome wasn't built in a day" because like many things it requires hard work, and once that is completed we get the rewards of learning and accomplishing how to do better.

Obediance is one of the keystones for a happy successful life. For example, the ex Tar Heels basketball player that chose drugs over obediance. He had all the ingredients for a tremendous career, but fell short when it came to making the right choices. His life would have been completely different if it were not for his careless actions. Like many people, this man had a lot to offer the world and their community, but he chose the wrong and gave his life away to drugs. In addition, without obediance people would not be happy they would be trying to get back of what they lost, but it will never be the same. After drugs been tried once a person is more likely to becoming an addict. Only caring about the next time they buy the drug for the few moments of pleasure. I understand in order to live my life to the upmost best quality I have to stay away and choose the right no matter what anybody trys influence me.

In addition, people who do not have the true wealth in the heart often commit acts that will effect more than themselves.

Duties and Responsiblities: 

The dentist assistant performs various of tasks in a dental office. They perform many task requiring both interpersonal and technical skills. Some include, taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays). In addition, providing patients instructions on oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures.

Education: Dental Assisting National Board's (DANB) Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) examination. 

Reflection: I think this is another excellent medical career pathway. I think it would be relatively easier to receive the education of this career as compared to being a trauma surgeon. I would like this career as one of the back ups that I can pursue.

Reflection: I think I would like to be a dentist for the reason that its a pathway related to the medical career pathway that I would like to pursue. It is hands on that requires a lot of devotion and time.

     What this quote means to me is that when you commit a good or bad action it will result in you either feeling positve feelings or negative feelings. Most often people want to feel good but they do actions that would offer them good feelings. A person who is in prison will not have good feelings since their bad actions led to them losing their wide selection of doing good. They only have time to reflect on what bad actions led them there.

         What this quote means to me is that in order to have frredom in life, one has to follow the rules that are placed upon them. With every decision we choose it determines our freedom. Such as the real life story that Mr. Haymore showed us, a man chose to kill a innocent man walking homee and was given a lifetime sentence with no chance of parole. In addition to that, he had the audacity to smile and make fun of the killing while looking at the innocent man's family. From this I learned that we either recieve the fruits of being obediant, or suffer the repercussions.

Much of the emphasis is on improving survival rates and the quality of life following heartbreaks, heart failure or heart rhythm disorders; but cardiologist are also concerned with understanding disease process and disease prevention.They are physicians who have recieved additional training to prevent, diagnose and treat conditions of the cardiovascular system.

Doctoral Degree in Medicine; completion of a residency program in internal medicine and cardiology

Reflection: I think I would like to be a cardiologist for the reason of in recent classes I have been learning medical terminology. In addition I have been researching for a class on a medical career pathway.

Audiologist diagnose, manage and treat patient's hearing, balance, or ear problems. They help people with their disorders better communicate and connect with the world around them. As well as recommend hearing aid selection, fitting, and programming. In addition, they perform otoscopic examination of the ear canals, and ear drum, manage the removal of excessive cerumen.

Reflection:

I think I would like to pursue a career in being an audiologist for the reason that I am choosing a career in the medical pathway. I liked that I can work along with other doctors in the setting of a hospital.

       When I first heard the quote I immediately thought of the upcoming tests I have for statistics and athletic training. Reminding my decisions of studying will ultimately be the factor if I do well or not in those tests. This student success statement is valuable information for anybody to recognize as words to live by. In movies there is often times when the character makes an realization that they have found out there "destiny" but often times they do not show the grit and decisions that it took those characters to accomplish their destiny. We miss the important parts such as the decisions they made. I feel that if children were taught this in a early age, there would be more of them chosing the right, with the implemented thought process of understanding that our decisions as people will determine our destiny meaing our outcome of the future.

Apply protective or injury preventive devices such as tape, bandages, or braces to body parts, such as ankles, fingers, or wrists. Collaborate with physicians in order to develop and implement comphrensive rehablitation programs for athletic training.

Education: 

Bachlors Degree, Masters Degree preferred

Reflection: I do not think this is the career I see myself doing in the future, for the reason that I do not particularly would like to be in sports games. It is not my preferred setting to consider the workplace. 

9/11

9/11 Attacks

    The attack on American soil occured on September 11, 2001 at the time I was going to be born in the next 3 months in December, the first christmas since the attack. Approximately nearly 3,000 people died from the 9/11 attacks. In addition, more people have died due to the dust particles that were released from the buildings, causing most of the victims to have cancer and now there has been more deaths of victims, dwindling the number of people who had experienced that attack firsthand. 

The first thought I have when someone mentions 9/11, I immediately think of the news coverage  describing with horror when she saw the second place crash into the second world train center. I recollect watching the live news report with my dad, at the time it had occured he was working in one of the skyscrapers in downtown Los Angeles. So he decided that it was in his best interest to not attend work, in fears of their being an attack in Los Angeles as well. With recent terrorist attacks all over the world, I feel that more than ever we are prepared for such actions  and America will always remain strong, resilient, and free.

Operate telephone, radio, and computer equipment at emergency response centers. Recieve reports from public of crimes, disturbances, fires, and medical or police emergencies. Relay information to law enforcement and emergency response personnel. May montain contact caller until responders arrive. Some job tasks are: read and effectively interpret small-scale maps and information to a computer screen to determine locations and provide directions.

Education: 

Highschool Diploma and few months to a one year of working with experienced employees. A recognized apprenticeship program may be associated with these occupations.

Reflection: 

I think this occupation is not something I want to ideally want to pursue. For the reason is that I would not being able to sit for long periods of time answering phone calls.

Acupunture

Duties and Responsiblities:

Acupunctarist treat physical and psychologist issues, as well as maintaining general healthy. Furthermore, they will consult, diagnose the issue, and treat is with acupuncture needles and other tools. The role of an ancupunctarist is to assist rebalancing the energy flow so the body can repair itself. 

Salary:

Master's Degree in Acupuncture ( 3 years) or Oriental Medicine ( 4 years) 

Reflection: As I was researching the career pathway of being an Acupunctarist, I soon came to the conclusion that this career can be a possiblity in my future. I feel the best type of medicine is one of natural properties, since it most likely has less side effects to the user, such as morphine, in which some people get addicted to it and starts having dire side effects such as hair loss. 

Ohthamalmologist

Duties and Responsiblitites:

Ophthamologist are physicians who specialize in the treatment of eye disorders and diseases. They treat vision problems and write prescriptions for both pharmaceuticals and corrective eyeglass lenses. When neccessary, they perform eye surgery. Most ophthamologist are in private practice, however some are employed by hospitals or clinics, and others perform research.

Average Annuel Salary: $90,000 - $150,000

Educational Requirements:

Only physicians may study to become ophthamologists. After completing medical school and an internship, an ophthamologist must then complete a three to five year residency in an approved ophthamology program they must pass an examination to be certified.

Reflection: 

I think I would not like to be an ophthamologist, for the reason of it being a career choice that I do not see myself in the future doing. However, if I do ever not want to pursure pharmacology anymore, I would taking being ophthamologist in consideration. 

Psychiatrist

Duties and Responsiblities:

  Psychiatrist are physicians who specialize in the problems of mental illness. As physicians, they are licensed to use a wide variety of treatments and may write prescriptions. Psychiatrist may work for the government. have their own private practice, or work in hospitals, clinics, or universities. Their duties include:

• Designing treatment programs.
• Conducting psychotherapy sessions.
• Prescribing potent mental illness drugs.
• Supervising electrotherapy treatments.
• Conducting research.
• Leading a team of mental health care providers.

Average Salary: $90,000 - $200,000

Educational Requirements:  Bachelors, Masters, Ph.D degrees

In addition to completing the requirements for a degree in allopathic or osteopathis medicine, psychiatrist must complete as intensive three year residency in psychiatry.

Reflection:

I think I would like to pursue this medical career pathway for the reason of my interest in mental health. I feel there is a lack of understanding by the majority of the country, so I would like to contribute into creating a greater community of mental illness. Finally there has been in recent times a increase of people being medically diagnosed of being depressed, it can be partially due to technology and how most often people like to look down at their phones instead of conversating facte to face, so I feel the field have an increase of demand.

Cactus and Succulent Arrangements

        One of my favorite things to do is planting succulent and cactuses in ceramic or terracotta pots, at the moment I have done at least thirty or so pots. I often like grouping the cactuses with a succulent that is called sempervivium tectrorum, or also known as "Hens-and-Chicks". I chose those because they are the most robust succulent species. When I plant all these different types of cactuses and succulents, it is most important for me to wear gloves, particularly the kinds that do not let the needles or thorns pass through it and puncture my skin. However, the end results of all the pots leave me feeling accomplished, knowing that my arrangements came out the way I had planned them to  come out. I one day want to do get into pottery so I can design  and create my own pots.
