“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder”- Thomas Carlyle

What this quote means to me is that there is no direction if there is no rudder.. Not just that but where we want to go and who we want to be. Sometimes we become confused with this because our emotions get mixed up with our thoughts. This must not stop us from doing what we want to do. When we have goals or our minds and hearts set on something there is nothing that can change how we feel about reaching and triumphing about it. This is why we must make our goals today so that later everything is clear, crystal clear. Having that mindset of knowing what you’re doing can save you a lot of time. It’s also just a good habit to practice. Overall what i learned today is that we must have our goal etched in our minds and every time we feel like giving up we just remember what we are working so hard for. In conclusion our goals is our future, and maybe they won’t go in order but we will accomplish them as long as they are in our mind.

One of my goals:
Memorial Day Weekend

                                   a1.jpg

What I did this weekend for Memorial day is that my family had a barbeque. All my close family members came over. Some of the movies I watched was the Goonies with the rest of my cousins. Some of the homework that I did was I had some reading assigned to me and some math work. Also to study for my Physics final and instrument final.

“When a deep injury is done us, we never recover until we forgive” - Alan Paton

An example of this would be if someone made a mean remark about you when they shouldn’t have but they did. They probably didn’t think it hurt because sometimes people speak before they think. It obviously did hurt and you might feel that pain for a little while or a very long time until you forgive that person. You see if you forgive a person then it’s just all there  fault you create a sense of guilt in them. Later on they will apologize and next time they won’t be so mean to you. In conclusion forgiveness is key to being able to “breath”. Or in other words to “take some weight off you chest”. After all forgiving never hurt a person.

Memorial Day
                                  mday.jpg

Memorial day is when we celebrate fallen soldiers, all of the vets and current. It is on the May 29.Some ways to show respect for Memorials day is by having a barbeque and giving thanks during the barbeque for the fallen soldiers, vets and those serving us now. You can give donations to charities that will provide assistance to current veterans so they know they are appreciated and their service is not taken for granted. What I will be doing on Memorial day is that I will probably be going to the river with my family to have a barbeque with the rest of my cousins. We often do something for Memorial day since it's an extra day to do something. What I find interesting about Memorial day is that it is holiday that is our very own and no other country celebrates it but us.

“Dare to do right” - Rex D. Pinegear

We always dare people to do things and sometimes those people dare us to do things. Dares aren’t bad on the contrary they motivate us to get out of our comfort zone.  The only time you should do a dare is when you think it’s okay to do it. In other words if it’s not a dare that would risk your life or have negative consequences in the end. For example a good dare would involve complimenting someone vs. saying mean things to someone. Don’t be afraid of dares because not all of them are bad. If you do a dare to prove yourself to someone, really think about it. In conclusion what I learned today is that you should do what you want to do and only do things that are right. We have to have the strength and courage to be ourselves and follow our hearts no matter if we stand alone or if we feel alone.
Conservation Scientist

Duties Conservation scientists manage, improve, and protect the country's natural resources. They work with private landowners and federal, state, and local governments to find ways to use and improve the land while safeguarding the environment. Conservation scientists advise farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural managers on how they can improve their land for agricultural purposes and to control erosion. Foresters have a wide range of duties, and their responsibilities vary with their employer. Some primary duties of foresters are drawing up plans to regenerate forested lands, monitoring the progress of those lands, and supervising tree harvests. Another duty of a forester is devising plans to keep forests free from disease, harmful insects, and damaging wildfires. Many foresters supervise forest and conservation workers and technicians, directing their work and evaluating their progress.

Salary $60,610 per year

Education Conservation scientists and foresters typically need a bachelor’s degree in forestry or a related field, such as agricultural science, rangeland management, or environmental science. Although graduate work is not generally required, some conservation scientists and foresters get a master’s degree or Ph.D.

Demand Employment of conservation scientists and foresters is projected to grow 7 percent from 2014 to 2024, about as fast as the average for all occupations.

“Dare to stand alone”- Thomas S. Monson
What I think of this statement is that it's ok to stand alone if you know what people are doing around is you is wrong. Like if for example you notice that your friends are smoking and doing drugs. They are in a group and they ask you if you would like to join them. Instead of choosing the wrong you go off and do right but you may be alone. That's okay because you know that you are doing well for your mind, body and soul.

“If I’ve got correct goals, and If I keep pursuing them the best way I know how, everything else falls into line. If I do the right thing, I’m going to succeed.”- Dan Dierdorf

Success, what does it mean. It has many different meanings to many different people. The only thing that we have in common is that we want it, we want it with all our heart. I agree with Dan on how to obtain this thing called success all we can do is work hard and hope. It’s not just working hard but working with effort, and giving it your best. In other words you have to overcome many challenges in order to reach what your idea of success is. This is so that when you finally obtain it you are thankful for what it is and appreciate the road you took.

Duties and Responsibilities: Physical therapists (PTs) are healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to the very oldest, who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. PTs examine each individual and develop a plan using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. In addition, PTs work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness- and wellness-oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles. Physical therapists provide care for people in a variety of settings, including hospitals, private practices, outpatient clinics, home health agencies, schools, sports and fitness facilities, work settings, and nursing homes. State licensure is required in each state in which a physical therapist practices.

Salary:  $84,020

Education: Physical therapists need a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. All states require physical therapists to be licensed.

Demand: Becoming a physical therapist requires years of education and training in areas such as kinesiology, anatomy, biology and physical fitness. Many physical therapists also receive extensive training in patient psychology to better understand and help clients cope with the emotional challenges associated with a physical ailment. As with most careers, the path to success can take many different forms. In physical therapy, what courses should an undergraduate take to prepare? Do aspiring therapists need to complete a residency? The following guide answers questions like these and offers detailed insight into the various academic paths one can take to become a physical therapist.

“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing”- Theodore Roosevelt

The best thing you can do is the right thing because you can have a good conscious . What this success statement means to me is that when we have a choice to do something that will impact others it’s best for it to be the right thing . In other words, if you want to be a better person one of the steps you should take is learning when to do the right thing without hesitation. This reminds me of the time when i had to make a tough decision. It was in the summer when I was about 9 years old. My mom had bought my sisters and me something, but it was a surprise, so she told us not to look into the bag . It was so tempting to look but i knew that if i did my mother would be mad. So i waited until she gave it to me. I was proud of myself because i did the right thing. In conclusion, what I learn today is that you always have to make choices. Sometimes it may be hard to do it but doing the right thing is always best.

“It’s A GREAT MOMENT when someone has character to step up and do the right thing at the right time.”
                                                              - Pam Knox

What this makes me think about is that there are many times when we should choose the right and we should take those moments and do what’s right. For example you witness someone committing a crime and there is a person yelling for help. What will you do? Will you simply mind your own business or will you go get help, as fast as you can. The things that you choose to do have an important role to play in your life. If you're that person that would try to get help immediately then congratulations. You just helped a person, you chose the right, and you’re a hero now. On the other hand if you’re that other person that didn’t do nothing you might feel a bit bad. So help others and you will feel great.

     Student Success Statement

“I have been asked what I mean by ‘word of honor’. I will tell you: Place me behind prison walls-walls of stone ever so high, ever so thick, reaching ever so far into the ground- there is a possibility that in some way or another I might be able to escape; but stand me on the floor draw a chalk line around me and have me give my word of honor never to cross it. Can I get out of that circle? No, never! I’d die first.”
                                                                Karl G. Maeser
What this statement means to me is that what you promise and what you say has a lot of power to it. In other words Mr. Maeser is trying to say is that When you give your word to someone they have to be able to take it seriously because you're just that trustworthy. This addon to choosing the right because if you always do then you will never lie. If you never lie then people will be able to trust you when you make a promise to them. So what I have learned is that what you say can mean so much to the person you say it to. Also what you say has to be taken seriously by yourself too. Many people depend on  what you say to them, whether it's positive or negative, they will listen to you and if you forget they will remind you. You can't have people remind you of what you told them you were going to do because it should be a goal that you keep somewhere, where you will always see it like you goals journal. To conclude, today I learned how words are powerful and that when someone asks you to promise or give the word of honor they are just hoping that you don't let them down.
