                       Pathologist
Duties and Responsibilities: Medical pathologists are usually either clinical or anatomical pathologists. Clinical pathologists mainly examine body fluids, including blood, urine and bone marrow. They may conduct toxicology tests seeking the presence of illegal drugs and poisons, run a hospital blood bank and test patients' immune functions to detect allergies and toleration of transplant organs. Anatomical pathologists analyze samples of tissue and cells to aid in determining the diagnosis and cause of diseases. Once samples have been removed via surgery, biopsies or fine needle aspirations, anatomical pathologists may freeze and examine them under a microscope to view any abnormalities.

Salary: f $191,098

Education: Many pathologists begin planning their educational paths in high school by taking science and math courses. A bachelor’s degree, usually in science or a related field, is required to enter medical school. While in med school, topics of study typically include biology, chemistry, physics, algebra, geometry, calculus and computer science, as well as pharmacology, human diseases and medical therapy. After graduating from medical school, candidates enter a residency program. Pathology fellowships offer extended training in the specialty. The total educational period might be as long as 12 to 15 years.

Demand: The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that the number of jobs for all physicians and surgeons was forecast to increase 14% in the period between 2014 and 2024
