Duties & Responsibilities:  The duties and responsibilities of a health science librarian Medical librarians work in libraries or resource centers located in hospitals, research centers, or medical schools.. They do much of the work a typical librarian would do, such acquiring and cataloging books and offering help those who are using the library for research or educational purposes , but they work with health-related materials. Many provide information to families, working with medical staff to approve educational resources, or to collect data and manage newsletters. They also maintain day-to-day operations of the library, covering some basic administrative duties.

Salary: Starting : $40,000, Average: $65,000

Education: Medical librarians must have a Master of Library and Information Science degree from a school with an ALA-accredited program. Applicants must already have an undergraduate degree (in any field). It is helpful, but not necessary, to have taken undergraduate courses in biology, medical sciences, medical terminology, computer science, education and/or management.
Sometimes medical librarians may have PhD or other second degrees, such as advanced degrees in medical information or business and management.
Medical librarians also may apply for membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals, a credentialing program for medical librarians sponsored by the Medical Library Association.

Demand:  This job market as a whole is supposed to grow more slowly than the average for all other profession, with a modest growth of only only 3%-9% over the next decade. However, individuals skilled in developing computerized library systems will have better than average employment opportunities. Replacing librarians who leave the profession due to retirement will continue to be a great source of employment. There will also be opportunities in nontraditional settings, which include information brokers, private corporations, and consulting firms.

I wouldn't want to be one because I like the patient care that I would give I like the science in the  medical  field and would actually want to do what I am reading about.
